LCMS World
Mission is pleased to announce that Rev. Ted
Krey, LCMS missionary and church
planter/developer in the Dominican Republic
was named Regional Director for Latin
America and the Caribbean, effective January
1, 2011. He replaces Rev. Dr. Jorge Groh,
who served in that capacity from 2004 to
2010 based in Panama.
Ted will
continue his work with the Dominican
Republic Lutheran Mission in Santiago,
Dominican Republic, while serving as
regional director. Ted’s new duties include
serving as a member of LCMS World Mission’s
international mission team; providing
spiritual care and nurturing the Latin
America regional team; identifying,
appointing, and supervising area
facilitators in Latin America; and
maintaining relationships with mission
societies and partner churches.
Rev. Ted and Rebecca Krey serve in the
Dominican Republic, where Ted works with
future pastors, deacons, and deaconesses.
Ted also serves alongside co-missionary Rev.
Walter Ries, of Brazil, to establish a
theological education program to train more
Lutherans to serve in the church. Ted and
Walter are also working to establish the
first LCMS congregations in the country.
Pray for them and that the Lord would bless
the preaching of His Word. Prior to moving
to the Dominican Republic, Ted served in
Venezuela for eight years, and Rebecca
joined him after they were married in June
2008.

Ted is a 2001 graduate of Concordia
Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Born and raised in Canada, he is the oldest
of nine children. Rebecca (Pollex) has a
master’s degree in biochemistry and formerly
worked in a genetics research lab, studying
cardiovascular disease and diabetes. She
also previously served for two years as a
long-term missionary
in Slovakia teaching English and has served
in a multitude of other capacities in the
church.
Ted and Rebecca’s daughter, Esther, was born
in April 2009 and their son, Matthias, was
born in November 2010.
The Kreys ask for prayers for our new
Dominican brothers and sisters in Christ, as
men are formed to establish Word and
Sacrament communities and women are formed
as deaconesses. Currently, the Dominican
Lutheran church consists of seven confirmed
members in the entire country. The Kreys
write, “Pray for us this year, as we work in
five different parts of the country, as we
seek to teach those who respond to hearing
the Gospel. Pray too, for the our adjustment
to married life and life in the Dominican
Republic.” Give thanks for the strong
response that the Dominican people have
shown to God’s Word in worship services,
Bible studies, theological studies, and
human care ministries. Ask the Lord of the
harvest to call more men and women in
service to Him!
