About the
Schielke's
God has blessed Shepherd of
the Hills Lutheran Church by allowing us to
proclaim His message to the Crossville community
for three decades. It seemed only fitting to
celebrate our 30 year anniversary as a
congregation by extending our outreach to
include a mission family for adoption. Little
did we know God had also been working in the
lives of another family to bring us together in
His service.
Philip and Kerri Schielke are
currently serving in the Kyrgyz Republic, a far
cry from their
home
town of Houston, Texas. Phil, born to a
missionary family, was no stranger to the work
abroad. When he and Karri married and
later decided it was time to expand their family
they did so through foreign adoption. Over
a two year period they were blessed with three
children, Jacob, Benjamin, and Esther.
Jacob, age 8, was born in Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine.
Ben and Esther, ages 7 and 5 respectfully, were
adopted from Kursk, Russia. Their family
of five was now united to serve – but where?
After attending Seminary, the
Schielkes prepared for an 18 month vicarage in
their current placement of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
Here they have committed to learn Russian and
further equip themselves for the service God has
for them in the days ahead. In the mean time,
their work will offer a service to us in Middle
Tennessee as well by providing a reminder of the
reason we are here – spreading the “Good News”
of a risen Savior. |
